Kia Ora,
I am Marise and I thank you for learning a bit more about us. If you are like me juggling life and running a business then getting that work life balance right is challenging (but very important). However, when you tick off most of the to-do list, it is a great feeling. The house might be a bit messy; the hair may need a cut and colour; you haven’t run that marathon yet but if you are doing what you love at work and life – don’t sweat the small stuff.
The idea for InHouse Marketing was sown when I worked as a marketing consultant for an agency here in Hawke’s Bay and had the chance to meet many local business owners. I realised that for most it was difficult to find time for marketing and many did not have a dedicated marketing person. This meant marketing often ended up in the “too hard basket” and they weren’t getting the work life balance they deserved.
I thought, “wouldn’t it be great if marketing could be put into the ‘make it easy basket’”, which led to myself, Jodi and Megan creating InHouse Marketing. Our vision is to offer our expertise, a friendly sounding board, have fun and make it easy for you to harness the power of marketing. We want to help you build better brands, achieve your business goals and have a great work life balance.
Experience
My marketing and sales experience is born from over 30+ years working in senior executive positions in FMCG and the competitive building industry. I’ve worked on names like Nestle, Goodman Fielder, Arnotts and Fletcher Building. In 2000 I gained my MBA from Massey which further broadened my acumen.
I have been an approved Commercial Advisor for the MBIE Maori Innovation Fund and have worked on exciting new product development projects including Kaitahi Superfood who won the Fine Food Innovation Awards in 2018.
The companies I worked for followed a very disciplined approach to marketing so I learnt a lot about the importance of the 5 P’s of Marketing. (can just include a link within text)
My favourite bits about marketing
Lately I have been fortunate to consult to many Hawke’s Bay businesses across a range of industries including Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Food, Financial Services, Cleaning, Automotive and Outdoor Living. I love finding out about these different industries and delving deep to find new insights to help shape brand strategy.
I also have a passion for new product development – I believe that innovation is possible for every size business, it just must be built into the everyday.
Many moons ago I gained a Bachelor of Education and the teacher in me is still alive. I find it rewarding to help people learn, which is why marketing-related workshops and mentoring is a key aspect to the InHouse Marketing consultancy.
When I am Not Working
Having been back in my hometown of Napier since 2014 (yes, another Auckland escapee) I am loving the lifestyle, weather, and natural environment we are lucky to have here. The blue skies always make me smile after the grey days of Auckland. I am a thrower of dinner parties and love trying new recipes on family and friends. I also enjoy indulging my love of creating, whether it be mosaics, paintings, upcycled blankets, or something I have seen and I think “I can have a go at creating that”.
Why Should We Connect?
If any of the below thoughts sound familiar then I encourage you to reach out. It costs nothing to have an introductory chat with one of us about your marketing.
- I don’t have time or experience in marketing
- My marketing efforts haven’t been working and I don’t know why?
- Why are my competitors doing better than me?
- I have a great new idea but where do I start?
We are a down to earth bunch of marketing consultants, have loads of life experience, and genuinely get a buzz out of helping fellow business people take a fresh look at their marketing.
When you work with us we bring together Strategy, Planning and Doing to make marketing something that will work for you.
Having an extra set of eyes, ears, hands and minds could also help you get a better work life balance at the same time as you grow your business. After all, “a problem shared is a problem halved”.
Go on, take the plunge and give us a call or email. I look forward to helping you put marketing in the “so easy basket”.
