I find it exciting and rewarding to help small businesses seize their opportunities. Through enhanced marketing skills and a well defined strategy, I know success can be possible for anyone.
I have enjoyed a career spanning a bit longer than I care to remember at times! After working in the banking and industrial sectors for several years and then raising a family, including daughter and fellow director Jodi Baxter, I felt the need to broaden my horizons work-wise as my girls grew up.
In 2013 I got back into working in marketing in a purer sense and took up digital project management as a communications and marketing consultant. Then 5 years on Jodi, Marise, and I got our heads together and took the plunge into InHouse Marketing. Our aim is to help everyday business people get things done, and this is where I seem to really make a difference.
My bent for the written word and natural interest in marketing and communications came to life thanks to a 12-year stint in the tertiary sector, at the highly respected Eastern Institute of Technology. EIT was in a real growth phase then and grew from around 1000 full-time students to over 2500. Signing off my time there as the Marketing Team’s Communications Manager and 2IC, I had picked up some digital skills and money-can’t-buy know-how along the way.
After that I became entwined in an awesome 10 year relationship with the tourism industry. Here my passion for people and building relationships led me to the role of Executive Officer for the Hawke’s Bay Wine Country Tourism Association, and as part of the wider Hawke’s Bay Tourism team.
On making a difference
I am a current board member and Deputy-Chair of the Hawke’s Bay Tourism Industry Association, since being invited to join in 2014 by then Chairman Sam Orton. I also serve, along with my younger daughter Stacey, as a trustee for the Rainbow Umbrella Charitable Trust – a charity raising awareness and helping children with disabilities and their families. I am also a founding member and Chairperson for Send A Little Smile, a Hawke’s Bay charity that helps people going through a tough time by delivering bags of smiles.
